Jackson’s First Ever Aqua Therapy Session

Jackson’s First Ever Aqua Therapy Session

Comments Off on Jackson’s First Ever Aqua Therapy Session

Jackson had his very first ever aqua therapy session today! He had a blast in the water, and it definitely brought tears to our eyes a couple times to watch him so relaxed and obviously enjoying himself! Aqua therapy is a great form of therapy for children with krabbe and other leukodystrophies. While in the water, Jackson was able to get his muscles stretched out, tone reduced immensely, and was able to voluntarily move his legs, arms and even his fingers! Krabbe robs these kids of voluntary movement and causes extreme tone and tightness that can cause painful contractures if not treated through therapy. The buoyancy of the water allowed him to have volitional movement because gravity was eliminated. We loved it and cannot wait for our session next week! Check out our Facebook page for more pictures
